I tried this once before, undocumenetded, I used a really small piece of clay and was poking holes in it I drew a little face, it dried out and broke so I started this one. I wedged, rolled a large slab, and then just dipped my finger in water and molded each hole. Usuing scrap pieces I molded and shaped a nose, too small if I could remake I would make a more realstic one, and then used the back of a paint brush for the eyes, other scraps to roll out and cut little tears to score and slip on. I'm really happy with how I used the glaze, I put white underglaze on the tears so that when I used the dusty rose opalescent over it all the tears would be the most vibrant and the rest a little old and yellow looking which was the intent! I was really happy with this piece, two other changes aside from the nose would be, better more dramtic eyes and not glaze and fire the hanging hole closed cause now its a wall leaning, not hanging.

This idea kinda came to me cause my moms birthday was coming up and I wasn't sure what to get her, so I thought I'd make a sugar skull for her to add to her collection. I mold the idea sort of like I was making a pinch pot but leaving it thicker sculpting out general bone structure and carving out the rest of the inside to hallow. One done I did all the painting in underglaze to have the cleaniest detailing possible and for color choices and patterns they were all random and chosen on the spot. If I could do somehting differently I would have KEPT NOTE OF WATCH UNDERGLAZE I WAS USING, cause I ended up adding details in the same color and acheiving no result which is extremely aggrivating! Aside from that I am quite happy with this product.
